Diagnosis Fee: $25
Computer Repairs:  current labor rate (at M&R only):  $55/hr

For the present, we charge a $25 quick diagnosis fee. This includes a virus scan and a hardware check. We will tell you what is wrong with your computer and how much it will cost to fix it. Sometimes, in the case of a serious software or hardware problem, advanced diagnostics are needed. In this case, we tell you that we have not found the cause of the problem yet, and we need to do more tests. For this extended diagnostic, we charge one hour labor.

100% Guarantee: Because of the nature and extent of some computer problems, we may have overlooked something in our repair of your computer. If you suspect that our repair was not complete or that we overlooked something, bring your computer back and we will diagnose it for free.  The diagnosis is free even if we find that the problem is not related to our repair.  If the problem is directly related to our repair, we of course will fix it for free. In most cases, we need to charge for parts.

Hard Drive problems.

You are responsible for backing up your data.  That being said, there are many ways to recover data. Sometimes the problem is not even the hard drive itself, and all of your data is safe.  Unfortunately, there are no guarantees where data is concerned.  Even our attempts at recovery may make the problem worse, and we still need to charge for the time we spend.   

If you suspect a hard drive problem - be careful, even a scandisk could render your files unrecoverable.  The best thing is to bring it in before you try to recover the files.

If you have very important data that you need to recover, and we can not recover them, we can recommend a  data recovery house and act as a go-between for you.  The approximate prices are:

$110-$165 to see what data can be recovered.

$1500-$4000 to provide cd-r's with all recovered files. (as you can see, this should offer some incentive to back up the important stuff.)

Our time is extra - $55 per hour.

How long will I be without my computer?

This question is becoming more and more common. The answer , of course, depends on the problem.  We will try to get you a diagnosis within 24 hours, but if we are really backed up, this may be impossible.  We offer an appointment only service where your repair is scheduled, and we can block out time for you and in many cases, get the computer back the same day.... again depending upon the problem.
